Looking for something similar to:

http://developer.yahoo.com/yui/examples/menu/example08.html

Top level of menu is always shown (or toggle-able), sub menus to the side.

thanks.

Not sure if I'm getting you right but try toolbar with menu buttons.

Not unless there is a vertical tool bar where each button is a fixed width and on a new line.

toolbar = [button1] [button2] ... [buttonN]

what I want is sort of like:
[button1]
[button2]
...
[buttonN]

Which is exactly how a Menu acts when its displayed. I just want the top level menu in a fixed location and always displayed, then each of the child menu's that "fly-out" from the side.

One more idea:

I use context menus in my page and I use function menu.showAt(xy). Maybe you could calculate xy where to show your menus from positions of some other elements.

I calculate from the position of the right mouse click.

You need a MenuBar with orentation:vertical.

I got a functioning example eventually.

I can't see Jack leaving this out of Ext much longer, it's an essential piece of widgetry.

Thank you! I was able to adapt that to do what I needed.
