We are using Ext Border Layout for our pages. When we load pages with lots of content(large tables) the page seems to pause, causing the content area to shift left into the treeview area then it loads into the correct place.

What is causing the page to pause during load?

Browser: IE 6

Are you calling beginLayout/endLayout before/after you start building? This will keep the layout from recalcing and repositioning until everything is built. See complex layout example for how it's done.

Yes I am calling beginLayout/endLayout before/after. I checked the sample code for complex layout and we are doing the same way. Still the page moves left side under Tree view and then moves to center.

I think at this point we're gonna have to see some code. Can you post a small sample or link? Does this also happen in FF?

this.layout = new Ext.BorderLayout('aspnetForm', {
north: {
split:false,
initialSize: 35
},
west: {
split:true,
initialSize: 240,
titlebar: true,
collapsible: true,
minSize: 100,
maxSize: 400,
autoScroll: true
},
south: {
split:false,
initialSize: 20,
minSize: 20,
maxSize: 20,
titlebar: false,
collapsible: false
},
center: {
titlebar: true,
autoScroll: true
}
});

this.layout.beginUpdate();
this.layout.add('north', new Ext.ContentPanel('header', {fitToFrame:true}));
this.statusBar = new Ext.ContentPanel('statusBar', {closable: false});
this.layout.add('south', this.statusBar);
this.layout.add('west', new Ext.ContentPanel('nav', {title: 'Navigation', closable:false}));
this.layout.add('center', new Ext.ContentPanel('main', {title: ' ', closable: false, fitToFrame:false}));
this.layout.endUpdate();

Not 100% sure on this, but I think "hideOnLayout" might help you.

There's nothing wrong with the layout you presented, but you didn't post any of the code that puts any of the content in your ContentPanel objects. How are you loading content into those panels?
