Has anybody seen this IE6 error?

The full message is:

Line: 16
Char: 3649
Error: System error: -1072896658
Code: 0
I have comment on line 16 so I don't know where line 16 comes from. (yui-adapter?)

Occurs when I call combo.store.load(). Combo is with HttpProxy and JsonReader. Both Firefox and Opera work fine.

Thanks for help inadvance.

Did you check for an extra comma? Use a debugger to step thru your code to see where the error is ocurring?

I was searching a bit and error occurs really on line 16 char 3649 of yui-utilities.js file. The code fragment there (from minified version) is:

About extra comma: I've checked visually as I don't have a debugger for IE (I'm a linux guy and I use FF or Seamonkey). I was just curious if my app would work in IE.

Further, if I comment out the store.load() statement the app works errorless (with no data from server of course). I guess that if it would be an extra comma it would fail on first parse not at runtime. Right?

Can you recommed a debugger for IE6?

Can you provide a sample of the data being sent back from the server? If it is really failing while parsing either the response headers or response text, then there may be a problem in the data that is breaking IE. The fact that it works in FF and Opera would seem to rule out a problem with Ext or YUI most likely.

It looks like your fields collection is missing array brackets.

1 May 2007, 11:53 AM

encoding wiht PHP json_encode... And, how come that it works in FF & Opera.

And, fields is object on purpose it's not a kind of "records"

Could this be because the document is declared XHTML Strict?

6 May 2007, 9:58 AM
Did you verify that it's really rendering in xml strict in FF? Even if it's not, I don't see how doctype would cause a javascript error. There's a firebug lite version for IE as well as some other free debuggers - there's a thread here somewhere mentioning them.

6 May 2007, 10:19 AM
I also doubt that doctype would have that effect on js but in case of IE one never knows... It was just shot in the dark as I've seen here some threads that mentioned doctype.

I don't know how should I check if doc renders in XHTML strict in FF. It just renders perfectly, "Standards compliance mode".

Thanks for info about fb light, I'll give it a try.

Has anyone determined what is going on here? I am having the same problem whenever I load a combobox.

18 Jul 2007, 12:30 PM
The system error issue is specifically with the encoding. My ASP.net page which was generating the XML was setting content-type and encoding in the code below:

Response.ContentType = "text/xml"
Response.ContentEncoding = Encoding.UTF32

I changed it to:

Response.ContentType = "text/xml"
Response.ContentEncoding = Encoding.UTF8

...and everything seems to work fine. Thanks to Animal and PFM on thread Load Raw XML issue in IE (http://extjs.com/forum/showthread.php?p=38927#post38927), everything became clear.

I am also getting same error,

Line: 3
char: 12246
Error: System Error: -1072896658
Code: 0

This happens when i try to use the submit button. The server is returning {success:true} message. This works fine in FF. If i remove the {success:true} from server and return nothing from the server the page works fine. if try to return any thing from the server IE shows this error msg.

24 Jun 2009, 11:39 PM

I finally managed to resolve the issue. I have included the following code in my server side pages

header('Content-type: text/html; charset=utf-8');and it started working

thank you very much jg4smile for guiding me to right direction.....
