View Full Version : New on ExtJS: can u give me Insight

hello, i usually use jQuery to do DOM Manipulation, i read a lot of thread regarding EXT Js and i would like to try give my effort to learn about Ext Js.

Several thing i would like to know

- does ExtJS conflict with Jquery ?
- the training material is for 2.x version, i would like to buy book about ext js in pactpub.com (but i think its also 2.x version).... is there big difference to code between 2.x version and 3.x version ?
- how much learning curve usually need to understanding ExtJS for Jquery user ?

it all depends on how well you understand object oriented javascript, XHTML, CSS and the DOM.
Learning Ext JS is a great resource even for 3.0 operations. I highly recommend it.

does the tutorial here.... http://www.extjs.com/learn/Tutorials .. still valid with 3.x version ?
any reference to learn extjs 3.0 from 'scratch' ?

I beleive that the tutorial is valid for 2.x. I was also in search for 3.x, but didnt find any. I am trying with the 2.x tutors only.

There are quite a changes from 2.x to 3.x. For example, DynamicGridPanel's package and its usage has changed (in terms of parameters it accepts). I also am facing an issue on the same, and posted a question on the forum -

also - it will not conflict with your jquery

in fact you can swap out the core extjs engine and replace it with jquery using the adapter setup
