When name and hiddenName of ComboBox are set and they are same, ie7 cannot render correctly...

This is a limitation that is clearly documented in the hiddenName API docs (http://www.extjs.com/deploy/dev/docs/?class=Ext.form.ComboBox&member=hiddenName).

but no problem in firefox and ie8? this is bizarre..

in addition, i had to spent time to solve this different behaviour.. so, could it be revised?

As Condor said, it's clearly stated in the documentation.

This is caused by a getElementById bug in Internet Explorer, so it can't be fixed in Ext.

1. Why would you specify a name and a hiddenName (unless you set submitValue:true, which is very unusual)?
2. You can only set id and hiddenName to the same value if you specify a different hiddenId.

when hiddenName not set, the displayField is sent to server on submit. but i need valueField on server side.

Set hiddenName and leave name alone. It isn't required.

So you specify a hiddenName. But why would you specify a name?
