Yes, this is what I was fishing for. To me this looks like a better approach considering the MVC pattern but since I'm fairly new to that I wasn't sure. Thanks!

No he's not. He's saying you have to create a web service that gives you a response in json format. Right now it seams to be in xml format and that is probably why you get "Unable to parse Json"...

Ah, you need to execute from the Sencha Touch SDK, not the SenchaSDKTools. I did the same thing :)
From where (what directory) are you executing the command?
Did you try "sencha generate app MyAppName ../MyAppName" (w/o the ./command)
You have to type the command: sencha generate app [app name]
I don't know, but the docs just seams to be wrong...
