yes. we extended the response and have some custom params. We need those params to render message data.
Why is this function marked private in extjs docs? Seems to be a mistake.

In the documentation for Ext.Ajax.request, timeout is shown as below
timeout : Number (Optional) The timeout in milliseconds to be used for this request. Defaults to 30 seconds.

The public property growAppend is not properly documented for TextArea. It should be noted that setting it to "" will cause the TextArea to properly render 1 line if only 1 line of Text exists....

Note: added to the previous comment. 'beforeapply' doesn't fire for IE 6 and IE 7. It may work well with FireBug.. Unfortunately, this is an enterprise class application and the client uses IE 6...

I did test the 'beforeapply and it doesn't fire. the code is self explanatory. That being said.. 'beforeresize' works, and while it's not the most efficient event to use for what I do, it works.
