Yeah I agree there are some issues with that example... But thanks for the help! I am learning allot about these new-fangled layout bits!
I will post my final version once I get it all cleaned up...
I tried that. I think you will run into problems with sub containers not resizing correctly. Using the renderTo is a legacy option and the layout managers won't work correctly. I did try it though...
That's what I want... If you don't like that you can remove the minHeights in there.... Granted my minHeight is huge... It was just for testing... It's a big pet peeve of mine where developers don't...
Alright I think I have the holy grail...
<!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/html4/strict.dtd">
Hmmm maybe I am not as close as I thought... With my AnchorPlus the footer does not stay at the bottom of the page, but rather the browser window... I think I have spent nearly 4 hours tonight...
Ok as I said I am very close. The only scenario that fails is with content that is small. The middle content area does not "fill" the available space (careful, it's not that simple to fix, changing...
Christiand I just tried your example.
This is one of the 1st head-aches I had to work through. Your example gives me a horizontal scrollbar when I get a vertical one. I can get past it though with...
Do you have an example for an Anchor layout with the following criteria?
I have been unable to get this to work with all the things I want it to do.
[Overall page - minWidth 600px minHeight...
I did try your example out. I love the border layout except for one fatal flaw.
The header and footer do not scroll with the entire page. This is my original question (reiterated in my last post,...
Argh, I am about to give up on this layout stuff. Frustrating.
What I want is a header, content, and footer. I want the header to have a fixed height, and the footer have a fixed height.
I did something similar but I like yours allot better! I will have to give it a try! Thanks!
This is what I have so far:
Here is my viewport

Thanks for the link... I think that really cements it in my mind. We have great bones with ExtJS 4 but still to do a real full fledged large project, you still need to roll your own for handling the...

Also, with internal apps you don't have to worry about the 5 second rule (you need to capture their attention and have something workable in a short period of time)... With an internal app you can...

Yep sounds like a similar path... What I guess I am miffed at is there is a large group that thinks it's a great idea (for single page), but allot of people recommending it just take their tiny app,...
The example that mitchellsimoens gave works just like we want... But when you need a vertical scrollbar you get a horizontal one (as it does not take into account that). Obviously there is an issue...

Lol, if you check the first post date it was just mid last month!
Basically, I have created a viewport with an anchor layout. This view port I have extended and allow easy adding and removing of...
Thanks for the tip about the beforerender...
Now, I am new to the beforerender.
But it seems like mine would only fire on the page load once. This seems to be
a problem as when I get a...

Thanks for the update! The docs should, at least, get people far enough! Thanks
Well, I want to tweak this layout a bit... If my center content is smaller than the page I want the center content box to grow to the size of the browser window minus the header and footer, so that...

I found in the examples this:
Call in onReady: Ext.History.init();
Also in my web page I needed:
<form id="history-form" class="x-hide-display">

I have a object (created in the onReady) that, in it's constructor, hooks up the change event for the History singleton object.
This is how I do it:
Ahhh! Wow! That was exactly what I was looking for. I think I tried all the layouts except for Anchor! Thanks!
Ok this might be a really dumb question...
I have a border layout with North, Center and South regions in a ViewPort. I have North and South set to 100px. This will be my header and footer. My...
I think that is the idea behind the whole class structure of ExtJS 4. They are trying to make it a fully OOP language similar to Java and other languages. Very powerful, but they do have to...
