I have a similar problem with the following simple code:

In the function renderStatus(), shouldn't it be this.texts.status instead of this.status ?
If I put this.status I have a "this.status undefined" error.
I don't think Ext.apply can add new configs and create the getters and setters, it just sets the value of existing configs.
I do pass the config in the constructor, but according to the thread I...
According to this thread http://www.sencha.com/forum/showthread.php?133653-Unable-to-subclass-and-use-panels, you can't use initConfig in the constructor of a subclass.
So you can't do this:
Great, I was going to do exactly the same thing !
I'll try your code :)

Thanks, that's another option.
I'll use that, but I'll still prefer something on the proxy to know where is the error coming from.

I tried with IE8, it loads in 2 seconds. Maybe you mean IE6 ? Loading it with IE6 takes forever, and then browsing the API is too frustrating to be usable.
I think we have to accept that ExtJS...

What would be nice is to have some guidelines on how to make an fast ExtJS application.

I have the same problem, it seems you can't use the same treestore for different treepanels.
See other peoples having the same problem here http://www.sencha.com/forum/showthread.php?136806

As I said in my first post, I tried and it didn't work. Maybe there is something I didn't understand.
According to the extjs source, in the method "onData" of the class...

I have a direct store like this:
// autoLoad false doesn't seem to work

Same problem here, using a TreeStore with a Direct proxy.
When I call the store load function, it makes 2 calls with the DirectFn function (both in the same HTTP request), and populate the tree 2...
Thanks for the clarification !
I still don't see where split is documented though, except in an example here http://docs.sencha.com/ext-js/4-0/#!/api/Ext.layout.container.Border.
Using the "split" config for a panel looks nicer than using "resizable" in my opinion.
But why is only resizable documented here http://docs.sencha.com/ext-js/4-0/#!/api/Ext.panel.Panel ?
