PreSelect an item in a NestedList
my application has got a nested list for navigation on the left and a main view on the right. When it is started, the first item in the nested list should already be highlighted. How is this possible?

The NestedList is a collection of Ext.List's within a card layout. You can retrieve the currently active card and then select a particular record that you want.Aaron Conran

while your answer might be true, it is not really helpful for someone looking for a solution. You might as well just have said RTFM.
So, HOW does one select a particular record in a list?
My problem ist slightly different, but your answer might have pointed me into the right direction.
I've got a grouped list and would like to scroll down to an index (like loading a list and automatically scrolling down to the letter "P" on load. (How) is that possible?
I don't expect a solution in code - but a hint where to search for it would be appreciated. I've looked at the API for Ext.List, but couldn't find a method that would do that.
