I'm not sure if this would be possible or not but im working on a photography website and the images i have a REALLY large because they will fill the entire page so i was wondering if there is a way to put a loading mask over top until the image is ready to load/show

An <img> tag fires a load event when it's done loading, so yes, it should be possible to add a loadmask (but you'd have to program it yourself).
