    Hi vertex,

I briefly covered this in my private message response to you, but I will do so here as well for everyone to read.

Ext JS GridPanel or ListView components are very popular choices for showing any sort of tabular data reports. The charting package (which is not available in Ext Designer due to its reliance on Flash) is a nice package for showing visual data reports.

In the Designer, you can configure your entire UI, including your GridPanel (its columns, etc) or your ListView (columns, etc.). However, the data must come from a server-side web server, which will deliver the data in either XML or JSON data formats. You would then use an XmlStore or JsonStore respectively to read the data response from the server. The stores would be bound to your GridPanel or ListView, and therefore would populate them with the data.

This is the high level approach.
Also, there may be very nice third-party UX's out there in the wild that present great reports. I suggest searching the Ext JS UX forum and Google just to see what's available.

    Regards,
    Jarred

    Hi vertex,

You cannot connect to your database directly in the Designer. You can only configure a Store, which loads data from a web server. Your web server and associated server-side code (e.g. .NET, Java, PHP, etc.) is responsible for connecting to the sql2008 database, retrieving the data, and returning the data in a particular format such as JSON (JsonStore) or XML (XmlStore).

I'm sorry that is quite outside the scope of this forum. You should have a look at ADO.NET and Google for resources on that topic.

    Best of luck,
    Jarred
