    This is only supported on "modern" browsers. The spell checker is turned on/off with the spellcheck attribute.

    textArea.el().getChild(0).setElementAttribute("spellcheck", false);

    So, just to make sure the message is understood:
    The spell check is a BROWSER feature, not Gwt/gxt....

    Default Extjs 5.1 classsic solution

    I know this thread is old but I was looking for a similar solution in Extjs 5.1 classic and this worked for me in a text area component:
