    If you are using Sencha Touch 2, you can use the following code:

    Code:
    passwordField.getComponent().setType('text');
    Where 'passwordField' is an instance of a Ext.field.Password.

    What this actually does is, get the underlying component (which in this case is an Ext.field.Input) and calls the setType setter (type is a configuration in Ext.field.Input) which is basically the type attribute in a normal HTML input field.

    To revert it back to a password field, simply call the setType setter with 'password'.
