Thread: Poor Scrollable performance on Android ICS

Success! Looks like we've fixed this one. According to our records the fix was applied for TOUCH-1363 in a recent build.

Question Poor Scrollable performance on Android ICS

    Not so much a bug.

    Observed in ST2 PR3.

Performance of scrollable on Android Ice Cream Sandwich is much worse than on 2.2.

Didn't put much effort to analyze this yet, just wondering if anybody got to it yet.

It's annoying as it's on pretty powerful hardware Samsung Galaxy Nexus (ICS) versus poor hardware (huawei u8160) I 've tested same code on Froyo where scrolling is pretty smooth.

    Regards,
    Jakub

It seems like our hand are being tied in ICS and we will have to fully hand things over to position: fixed. I'm not exactly sure when we will have this in place.

We have done some modifications which should help the performance on Android 4.0.3. We have also opened a ticket with the Android team:

    http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=25147

Which would go a long way in improving this further. Until that is resolved, there's not much more we can do.
