    Default Strange behavior of FileUploadField when placed in ToolBar

    Strange behavior of FileUploadField when placed in ToolBar

    Hello,

    I'm using the "AdvancedListView" example and I just placed in the toolbar a FileUploadField and a "submit" TextButton after it.

    Both FileUploadField and Submit button behave very strangely.
    • Cursor is changed to small hand pointer is only on the very edges of "Browse" or "Submit" buttons and this is when the buttons operate normally.
    • If I click anywhere else on these buttons the file selection dialog opens (what should happen when clicked on Browse button).
    • Cursor also turns to little hand pointer even in the empty toolbar space after the "Submit" button, and firebug doesn't show any comportment there
    Other than this they function correctly.

    I've used these file uploads many times before and never had problems with them so I'm not sure if I maybe stumbled on some bug here.

    Has anyone experienced this behavior before or has any idea what to do?

    Thanks!

    Which version of GXT are you using? This really sounds like an issue and i would like to move this thread to correct bug forum so we can take a look at it.

    Seems that file upload field doesn't behave properly when placed in Dialog window.

    Tried something like this:

    Code:
    private Dialog chooser;

    chooser = new Dialog();

    chooser.setPredefinedButtons(PredefinedButton.OK, PredefinedButton.CANCEL);
    chooser.setHideOnButtonClick(true);

    FileUploadField file = new FileUploadField();
    file.setName("uploadedfile");
    chooser.add(file);
    Is there a known issue regarding this?

    Any updates for these bugs?
    There is also a bug if you put the FileUploadField as a menu item! Please update the bug 2419!
    Is it also possible to add a getter for the TextField? So that it is possible to hide the TextField. This will be a nice feature und easy and fast to implement!

    I can't reproduce in the 3.0.7 or 3.1.2. Is this still an issue?
    Thanks,

    Are you serious? Do you really have tested it? Every bug reported from decanski is still existing! My bugs or new features are still existing or missing too!

    You can easily reproduce it in your own explorer demo (3.1.3 NIGHTLY):
    http://qa.sencha.com:8080/examples-d...ace:fileupload
    1. If you hover the browse button of the fileupload field the hand pointer for the mouse is only displayed in the bottom of the button. So you don't get a feedback if your really hover the button. This bug exists since the beginning of GXT 3
    2. If you put the fileupload field in an toolbar. You don't know if you really can click it, because you don't get a feedback. This is linked to point 1 and should be the same problem.
    3. The size (height) of the button doesn't really fit the size of the textfield
    4. You still don't have access to the textfield of the fileupload. So you can't hide the textfield and make an immediate fileupload field without the textfield. I think this would be a great feature. Many people don't want to display the selected file. It would be better to upload it directly after selection.
    If you still believe the bugs don't exists i can provide a test case.

    Sorry I made a mistake, you're right. Thanks for the clarification and reporting back and I've linked up the issue and increased the priority for it in our queue.

    I see the button hover and state change issue. The size issue, I think that might be a firefox 26 issue, and current firefox and chrome the sizes should look ok. Could I ask which browser and version the size looks wrong in?

    Thanks so much for making sure I'm on track.
    Brandon

    Hi, nice to hear!

    I am using the latest version of chrome (38.0.2125.111), but for the latest firefox it's the same (33.0.2).
    If you zoom in 300% you can see it better, but it already exists for 100%.
    The neptune theme has a smaller button and the gray theme a bigger one. But that's a gripe at a high level.

    What about the feature to hide the textfield so that you only have an upload button?

    Thanks!
