Default Is Apple Provisioning necessary even for testing the app in my iphone device?

I am developing a application using sencha touch. I wanted my team to test it.
So I created .apk file for android device and shared that file to all my team members so that they can install and test it. It works fine.

But we wanted to do the same for iphone device also. I have created .app file. But sencha document says I need to have Apple provisioning signed. I dont have any plan to put this app in AppStore. We just will be using within our team. So, Is Apple Provisioning necessary even for testing the app in my iphone device?

    Please help.
