I will start doing the same with my clients, or maybe not because they will start laughing at me if I cannot come up with a date for delivery

    Easy, isn't it?
If that were true, yes, it would be easy. But what would actually happen in the real world is:

    Sencha: "2 weeks"
    (2 weeks go by)
Community: "2 weeks over where is it you guys suck you guys lie RAGE RAGE RAGE"
    (rinse and repeat)

In that case, I can tell you it will definitely be out before Dec. 31, 2014. Happy now?

Yes, communication IS difficult - for sender as well as receiver. The receiver (=community) must understand what an ESTIMATION is... I know, it IS difficult...

Sure, if I tell something like that the client just moves to a different technology, same can happen here... Why do you think people moved to AngularJS, etc?

Clear roadmap of what is going to happen

I think people moved to AngularJS mostly because it's a Google product, not because they have a roadmap. Backbone doesn't have any roadmap (that I'm aware of) and they are still as popular as AngularJS.

I agree that there should be a better roadmap, but we're talking about release dates. I notice a glaring lack of release dates in the Angular roadmap. As in: there are none.

As an aside, the Ext JS and Touch codebases are vastly (vastly) more complex than Angular's, because Angular has no component library. Which is really the whole problem with Angular.
