Thread: Architect deletes metadata files on load

Success! Looks like we've fixed this one. According to our records the fix was applied for DSGNR-3515 in a recent build.

Default Architect deletes metadata files on load

    REQUIRED INFORMATION

    Architect Build tested:

    • Build: 894
    Project Type:
    • ExtJS 4.x
    Description:
    • If a controller has invalid json and one trys to load the application via Architect, an "unable to load" error will be shown and the file will be deleted from the metadata/ directory .
    Steps to reproduce the problem:
    • Load a controller from the metadata directory into an editor
    • Find a section that has custom code
    • Remove a comma, thereby breaking the json syntax
    • Close the editor
    • The previous four steps emulate a possible error from a merge conflict. In my case, I was using Perforce, and during the conflict resolution I did not catch the missing comma
    • Load Architect
    The result that was expected:
    • An error telling the user there is a json parsing error
    The result that occurs instead:
    • An error is displayed about not being able to load a file
    • The controller in question was deleted from the file system
    • The application is now completly broken due to the missing controller
    HELPFUL INFORMATION

    Screenshot, Project, or Video:

    • none
    Possible fix:
    • Check for parsing errors before trying to load the project into Architect
    Operating System:
    • Ubuntu 12.04 LTS x64

Thanks for the report. Clearly we are being too agressive. Get back to you soon.

Yeah we have a fix working but we're doing a bunch of testing to make sure this first patch stabilizes all the issues our users are seeing. This week no doubt and ASAP for sure.

If you are able to reproduce this issue after 908 please let us know how.

The other linked thread has a slightly different issue related to linked resources being lost.
