    For starters, I'm using ubuntu as that is what runs on the servers I use. I have not tried to build on Windows for some time (many many months) as it didn't work for me when I tried it. Much has changed since then.

    That said, what errors do you get?

    Cmd may be trying to write to C:\Program Files\SenchaCmd\Sencha\Cmd\repo

    Do you have permission to write there?

    I believe that I solved my problem by fixing the permissions there to allow writing.

    A good test is to run:
    Code:
    sencha -sdk /path/to/extjs/sdk generate app MyAppName /path/to/MyAppDirName
    cd /path/to/MyAppDirName
    sencha app build testing
    Good Luck,

    OK

    Permissions !

    I gave full permissions to all the users on the root CMD directory and now it compiles.

    ------

    Sencha used to be such fun. Download "app generate', build and BAM !, you have a working APP. In the last version it all went wrong !

    I am now 7 days from upgrading to the last Sencha SDK and CMD and it is still not working properly. For example it will not load on Android, some cross domain issue......, I have 25 [WRN] messages from the Rhino parser about issues in main.js which was auto generated by 'generate app ..' come on .. this is a Sencha built app ...

    If some one from Sencha is listening ... Please make Sencha fun again !

    Sorry for using u as a platform for relaying a message to Sencha, I am just so frustrated with the new version ....

    I'm glad to see you figured it out.

    It took me a while to figure this out as well. When you run on the bleeding edge you have to figure things out without documentation. Just keep asking detailed questions. That's what I do. Sometimes you get the right answer. I've been lucky that way lately.

    what is codegen.json? when should that missing file be created? while installing sencha cmd? while running a generate command?

    windows 7 64bit ... installed as user, installed as admin. low permissions, full permissions

    sencha generate --> codegen.json error
    sencha build --> codegen.json error

    Sorry, I do not know about that file.

    If nobody else responds with the answer, try starting a new thread and post copies of the actual error.

    Well, this Q is unrelated to the thread but ...
    Codegen.json is created by sencha when you run the "sencha app build" command. You can find it in the .sencha/app directory (with a dot in the beginning) it includes the minified version of app.js, app.json ..... files. What Sencha is doing with that I did not investigate but that is something internal to Sencha.

    Hi guys,

    I had exactly similar problem,

    and solved it very easy:

    sudo chmod a+rw -R ~/bin/Sencha

    Ubuntu 16

    Cmd was installed under the root at ~/bin
