Default Answered: Local storage limits for native packaged application

    Hi,

when using the local storage html5 feature in browsers, there is a limit of about 5MB(depending on the browser).

Is this limit the same for a native packaged sencha2 app?

If yes: What options do I have to cache bigger amounts of data for offline usage?

    Greetings from Stuttgart,

    Fred

  2. Yes, the limits still apply. Worse, the users will not be prompted to increase the limit as they would with a web app. An alternative is to use SQLite or package with Cordova and access the file system.

Cordova could be a good idea, thanks!

Is there a memory limit for SQLite storage?

If you use a SQLite plugin, the limit becomes measured by the limits of any SQLite database, which are in the gigabytes. So the limiting thing in that case is really the amount of storage you can justify taking up on the device, rather than the theoretical limit.
