Default Answered: Using Pictos Icons In ExtJS

I know that Sencha Touch provides free access to the Pictos Font Pack. Does this also mean we can use Pictos Font Pack in all other Sencha products like ExtJS? If yes, then where can we get the full Pictos Font Pack? The one that is available in the ExtJS Kitchen Sink application has limited set of icons in it.

  2. Whatever is in each SDK (including samples for that SDK) a licensee of that SDK would have the rights to use under the SDK's license.

They aren't directly distributed for Ext JS but is licensed for Sencha. I'm no lawyer though.

Thanks for the answer. Since it is licensed for Sencha, I am now confident in using this in my Sencha ExtJS applications. It would be nice to have an explicit official note about it if it is allowed or not. It is important concern after the addition of 'glyph' config in various ExtJS components. I will grab the full font file from Sencha Touch SDK for now.

    Default Sencha Official Response

The particular Pictos icons that are made available as part of Ext JS have been licensed to Sencha for inclusion in Ext JS and downstream use by Ext JS licensees. If you'd like a broader set of Pictos icons, please visit pictos.cc to license and give your support.

Are you referring to the Pictos font that is included in "ExtJS Kitchen Sink" example application or the one that in available in "Sencha Touch SDK"? Notice that the one that is in the "ExtJS Kitchen Sink" application has a subset of icons of the one that appear in "Sencha Touch SDK".

    Thanks for the response.

    Hello!

We have similar concerns and it wasn't very easy to find this thread. It would be great if the Pictos Font package includes a license file and people who have any licensing concerns could easily review that file rather than searching the Sencha forums looking for an answer.

Could you, please, add such a file?

    Thank you very much.

Agreed, that would be helpful. We'll add a reference in the license.txt.

Thank you very much. Could you, please, do a favor to post a follow-up here if/when it is done? It would be much appreciated.
