There isn't a number method on the Ext.util.Format singleton in Touch. You will have to use the pure javascript method to format numbers.

Can you suggest syntax for a "pure javascript method to format numbers"?

Essentially you would have to write a js function to format the value and could call it from the column renderer function. Or you could try porting the Ext version of Ext.util.Format.number to Touch.
