    Success! Looks like we've fixed this one. According to our records the fix was applied for EXTGWT-3706 in 3.1.1.

    Description
    doSort() in TreeGridView creates a StoreSortInfo using a simple Comparable to sort column values. It should check whether the ColumnConfig has a custom Comparator the way GridView.doSort() does using createStoreSortInfo()

    This has been fixed in SVN and nightly builds, and will go out in the 3.1.1 release.
