Thread: CMD-Installer on Os X overwrites .profile

    Success! Looks like we've fixed this one. According to our records the fix was applied for SDKTOOLS-1315 in 6.0.3.

    Default CMD-Installer on Os X overwrites .profile

    OsX has two configuration files for bash/sh (~/.profile and ~/.bash_profile). ~/.profile is used for bash and shell. If ~/.bash_profile exists, it will be used for bash but the content of ~/.profile will be ignored!

    Your installer of extjs-cmd writes its path-environments into ~/.profile. Thats ok. But it also writes into ~/.bash_profile, even if it not exists! That's not a good idea, because if a user has stored the bash- and sh-configuration in his ~/.profile, the existence of the new ~/.bash_profile will make his bash configuration to be ignored.

    So please change your installation routine, that it only makes changes to ~/.bash_profile, if it already exists!
