    Default Ahomé Desk is here

We are so excited to share Ahomé Desk Beta 1 (https://desk.ahome-it.com)

A year ago @Elom and I had a vision of creating a unique and personal cloud experience. An intelligent layer over the things you care the most.

The cloud is everywhere. And the number of services we use increases every day. Document, , Photos, Videos, Musik, Contacts, Friend, Events, Locations, Social Networks etc ...

We found ourselves using more and more applications every day. Keeping track on all this services becomes even more challenging.

And because most of those services were not designed to play nice with each other, as users we found ourselves switching back and fort between them. Loosing focus. Wasting time.

Ahomé Desk is our attempt fix this situation. Our attempt to intelligently organise the way we use the cloud.
A place where you access the things that are important to you in a simple familiar, beautiful interface. Organized and synchronized across devices.

A place where the user is at the center and not the services that she uses.
We call it your Home in the Cloud

Please keep in mind that this is a beta release. So expect bugs and things that or not polished and or finished yet.

We are just at the beginning of our journey, we have lots of things in the pipeline and cant wait to share with you what s coming next.

We need you to make this a great product.
Please visit link below and let us know what you think.

Insane use of Ext JS !!

Sencha should just put this right on the front page. Forget the fortune 500.
This is no better advertising for the framework than such stuff.
Will you open source it ?

    Great work.

    Few questions and some feedback:
    • Is there supposed to be so much debug output and errors in JS console in production build?
    • When using some theme and color combinations focused items become illegible:
      Illegable.png
      illegable icon.png
    • It would be great if notes app could have some predefined text and background color combinations instead of having to choose them separately. Also, the default yellow is a bit too bright.
    • The text editor looks really primitive. Maybe you should integrate ACE Editor or CodeMirror?
    • It seems right now there is no way to adjust desktop icon size (only text size). They look a bit too big right now.
    • The introductory tutorial bubbles look quite nice. Would you mind sharing how they are made? Nevermind, I can see now that it's made with Intro.js.
EDIT: selecting some items and clicking "Edit details..." in the calendar app gives me "app-0.js:40712 Uncaught TypeError: component.getViewBounds is not a function".

Absolutely! That s on the pipeline and will roll out soon. Overall we would like to integrate Notes and Calendar a bit more.

Dont quit understand. The text editor is actually based on ACE Editor. Is there anything you are missing ?

We will have a pure clientside reusable component based on our desktop UI that you can use on your own project.

Impressive work. I would also be interested in a self hosted solution. Any plan for that ?

    @Ekambos
    • Did you get inspiration for your project from Synology desktop which also uses ExtJS? It looks very similar.
    • You are missing spaces after punctuation marks:
    • The link "desk.ahome-it.com/#/u" which you get after going into guest mode by pressing "Take a guest tour", doesn't lead anywhere by itself. You just get a blue screen if you try to use it.

Yes. Actually we took inspiration from a couple of WebDesktop implementations. Synology beeing one of them. Synology is stuck on Ext JS 3 though. Our client will work with any Ext version above 4. We are planing to provide it as a standalone compoment that one can use on her own project. Not sure it will be free though.

Yes we still have lots of typo. But we will fix all of them before Beta 2. You can also fill an issue here : https://github.com/ahome-it/ahome-desk-issues/

Yes one should not directly goes to the link. But I think we can do better there. Will push that to the team.

How do you like the idea overall ?

Thx a lot and keep it coming
