So there isn't any license for a freelance developer to just create an app and sell it for free or some price? I love Ext JS and enjoy creating apps in the enterprise, however, in my free time, I have ideas for apps and I want to use the framework for personal projects that I could potentially sell.
It is sad isn't it? Being a customer with Sencha is like always walking in the mud and nowhere fresh water.

I hope Sencha will has better price model for customer. I am a software engineer work for a company, after I leave office, I learn Ext JS 6.5 by night at home. I tend to build a software what I host myself. When I finish my software project, I want to leave my company, run my own business with the software as I host myself (SaaS). Therefore, I am not eligible to Independent consultant license program?

I even have only about $2000 in my pocket. Sencha forces me buy 5 users license for 1 developer like me, it is not affordability. If Sencha has an economist, Sencha will know that, even when decrease price of products, Sencha still has a more profit.

Please don't force buy 5 users license bundle for a standard cost model. I have 1 users, please sell me 1 users license. I am not enough $9,190 .

Why Sencha doesn't make renew package transparency? (For rational, it should be predictable thing)

Sencha should has a better price model, better for Sencha and its customers, developers community.

wow. maybe Sencha will survive now... great to see new business overruling dumb sales decisions of the past... oh but wait there's a catch...

This is a good 'step'... nowhere near where Sencha needs to go to become a leader again in development circles, NO WHERE NEAR.

So you have to buy TWO licences, one for you, one for your client... when it's 'developer-based licencing' --- er rrrrrrrrriiiight!

    • Also not sure how they are going to police the 1 million turnover thing as they can't look at your accounts?
    • So if the business also develops their own software, how does that effect the licence?
    • Why did you pick $1 million US gross? would be better to go by TAXABLE, than gross, that way $1 million dollar team with 3 developers and 5 designers, hosting, advertising and rent... they boils down to $100k profit at best? Seems a little low.
    • your GPL version isn't allowed on IOS anymore... so there is not GPL 'usable' version either...
    • you OEM licence is also the double dip (still unable to get anyone to prove it's even legal though, especially outside the USA)

Unless anything changes, this isn't a genuine offer... Sencha need a massive boost in publicity and use to be a major player again... Quooxdoo get's more attention than Sencha right now.. .it's not on any corporate radar unless Sencha itself one company at a time sells it... developer's aren't as they laugh at the hoops...

The ONLY reason you need to upgrade the licence for a v2 app is if you need support (which I don't think Sencha provides)... so if you want to keep a version 2.0 app... no need to pay anything... licence is perpetual!

Do miss the days when it was version 2.x though when the community was thriving and loads of extensions written, and community contributed code fixes that went in overnight, and the marketplace was open to publish stuff... #sigh

If the consultant transfers the license to the customer once the project is completed, then the customer would renew the license.
