I just joined after having the thought that this should exist and being rewarded by a quick google search, thanks for setting this up! Something like this is even more important now than ever...

joined but slack is not the right platform for this IMHO, as history will be lost (unlike the forum), much better platforms for retention of data, and voice chat... slack is 2015...

slack is good for discussions, not support.

I understand where you are coming from but the intention of the Slack Workspace is for exactly what you say it's good for. It's proven to be great for discussion and debate around best practices and general framework chat. It's been great for troubleshooting problems and indeed getting support from other developers who have likely hit the same problems before.

It's not intended to be a replacement for the forums as the data retention and lack of history (especially since we're running on the free tier) is poor.

It's been great for quick questions, idea bouncing and that sort of thing. Things that are tedious in a forum setting where everything is slower. However, I think when issues get complicated members are generally moving back to the forum to get more formal support.

I hope you'll stay active in the Slack group!

slack is for teams tho, not communities... either way glad it's there,

but as it gets busy, content will disappear fast.

I agree. A forum is also better at organizing individual discussions by topic. Forum threads are more specific than slack channels and yet easy to browse and search through.

Unfortunately, this forum is becoming dead real fast. Sencha/Idera isn't posting on the forum like they used to and the once active community members aren't active anymore. On Slack, there are many of us ex-Sencha employees that help and talk in real time. But yes, history gets wiped away unless you wanna find a sponsor
