I don't know anything about IDERA, however from perusing their website I'm uncertain what the strategic vision would be in terms of using EXTJS and the current Sencha customers. If the IDERA database products fail in the next few years the EXTJS crowd could be taken down the drain with them.

I would not relax so much after reading through IDERA's forum, their community's response on this matter. Take for example https://forums.embarcadero.com/threa...hreadID=255043 Especially start from Jim McKeeth comment. From the responses I gather Delphi community was struggling due to lack of stable UI tools. There were UniGui and Kitto, which are ExtJS integrations with Delphi. However, reading the replies, those integrations had issues, so IDERA bought Sencha for their own community to fix those issues, to themselves have "a 1st class web development framework".

So current Sencha developers may not be needed, simply because it will be picked up by their Delphi IDE developers. Only good thing I see, is their community does complain about prices, so maybe if IDERA does choose to keep ExtJS as independent product without forcing me to learn Delphi, hopefully not merging it in with their own tools, at least prices may come down.

My comment was only w.r.t. to the purported mass layoffs and outsourcing all development.

I think Atanas does not understand Sencha's situation when he wrote: "I can assure you we have no immediate plans to make changes to product lines or positioning."

See, the mightychris' (Chris Alfano) response.

IDERA's management would be delusional if they think this kind of team replacement could work.

How will this affect us consultants? Anyone have any insight on what plans IDERA has for the product line?
I didn't realize that IDERA is valued over one billion dollars. Well, they have the resources if they want to take Ext JS to the next level.

Yes, and it's far more important than ' oh my .... theses dudes have never seen a line of javascript' I read here and there...

    Interview with Atanas Popov

Q: What is your opinion about open source?

A: We are a commercial organization and we want
to make money, which makes us skeptical about
open source. Most organizations that have tried
to create a business model from open source have
had challenges. Some try to monetize consulting
and support. I have not done as much research in
this space historically, but we have explored
certain trends. BTW I love Google Trends as a
    gage for interest.
