    Default ExtJS 7 release date

    Hi ExtJS Team,

when can we expect an ExtJS 7 release date (in sencha roadmap should be in the Q4 2017) ? any confirmation if it will be based on the modern toolkit ?

    Thanks in advance..

Good one! Sencha has been acquired and is now restructuring.

You can check the official blog, but so far there has been no real product update involving dates or roadmaps.

Q4 of 2017 is not going to happen now. They say 6.5.3 will be released in December and they haven't even started on 7 yet. Depending on the scope, I would say 2nd half 2018 is the closest I'd guess and that's pretty optimistic from what I'm hearing.

The release to wait for is 6.6.6. This would be a beast of a release.

If this was a brand new app, honestly I wouldn’t use Ext JS. Too much drama, too much uncertainty, too much risk.

I agree 100%. Sencha needs to take care of the uncertainty factor.

So far, there's no solid evidence that the new team can deliver. Support is bad and they still keep the uncompetitive 5-pack purchase requirement.

Looks like the 6.6.0 release is currently worked on according to this recent bug fix, so we should see it before Ext JS 7 is released.

That bug fix is linked to another thread from August which was before everything when we were planning a 6.6 release. No news from Idera about a 6.6 yet that I have seen.

I see, I missed the linking part. It will take a long time for the new team to come up to speed. If this ever happens, this would be the unlikely best case scenario.
