Default URLs for Customers using EXTJS

    Hi,

We'd like to see customer web sites to see what other developers are doing with EXTJS. We sorta feel like we're doing our development in a bubble. Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks,

    -Doug

Sencha is oriented towards the enterprise users and is costly so most sencha apps are not publicly accessible. There is one I spotted "in the wild" https://a3.geosrbija.rs/ but it uses ExtJS 4.2.2.1144
Maybe other users can share their findings...

Thanks Mitchell (btw I pushed you up to 1500, you owe me a beer). We're looking at the side-bar approach. At the moment we have a typical tab-based app and are looking at updating the look-and-feel. If you find more examples I'd appreciate it. Thanks for all you do on these forums.

    Classic has side tabs: http://examples.sencha.com/extjs/6.6...avigation-tabs

Modern you can position the tab bar (even to the left and right) as seen here (albeit bottom here): http://examples.sencha.com/extjs/6.6...rn#bottom-tabs

You can also use a tree list (click on nav button for a more nav like UI): http://examples.sencha.com/extjs/6.6...dern#tree-list Combine that with a card layout container and you'd get extra levels and in micro mode a fly out menu on hover.

For fiddle, all it is is a toolbar with buttons. I think my implementation is more hacked to serve other needs but that's the gist of it.

My advice with this is take some distance with the technology you're using, and do your research. If you don't have the design expertise in-house and the money to pay external consultants, it's even more important that you rely on a proven design system to guide you in building UIs, since it'll prevent a wide number of mistakes from being made that would hinder your product's usability. I am quite fond of Material Design, which I would heavily recommend. ExtJS has a Material theme, which'll do part of the job if you want to build a Material app with ExtJS. However it's better than nothing.

You'll also need to understand the basics of what makes a component a good fit for a given task in a UI. Books like About Face are a good resource to that end. Some people also recommend http://ui-patterns.com/ but I've never used those tools and they look a bit redundant to a more seasoned designer. But really, the technology here is not much of a concern. What you need is knowledge to make informed decisions, and a system of guidelines and patterns to automate decision-making in simple cases and produce UIs that are consistent with each other.
