Feedback on IE Performance
Here is a demo site:
Here is a example brochure created with the app:
Here is the admin login so you can see the back end:
I would be very grateful if you could have a look at my little Ext2.2 CMS/brochure creator.
I'm a bit worried that the performance in IE7/8 is poor.
Do you think that I should I be getting better performance?
I would consider my app quite simple - and I'm note sure whether to attribute the poor performance to:
- My crappy programming leading to mem leaks etc or...
- IE's crappy performance
To test the performance:
- Log in to admin area
- Click the Add/Edit Products button
- Add and edit some products (double click on a product in the grid to open the editor)
- Add categories etc..
I'm getting really sluggish performance when moving windows, dropping down combos, expanding categories tree etc.
Also in the brochure creator the drag & drop is very slow.
Thanks for your feedback,

Not sure this is what you want to hear, but it runs slow in FF as well.
Could the iframe'd content have something to do with it? Generally iframes will slow a page down, but thats typically only when you have too many of them.
You should check on combining all of your JS files as well, it cant be helping performance to have that many separate JS files.-Shea

@eli_s -- It might help to move up to Ext 3 RC2 in those frames. You're running an old 3 beta in there.
Or, are those false JSB version headers from an SVN build?

Wow - that's very disappointing to hear that it's slow with FF on the Mac too.
The performance is excellent on Windows even on medium spec machines on everything except IE7/8
I've been trying to think of ways to reduce the number of windows - but it's hard - i've got to put those forms somewhere!
I'm a bit frustrated that a simple app like mine with less than 20 simple forms is starting to hit the wall in terms of performace ;(
I'll have to try and upgrade to Ext3 to see if that helps.
I'll have to get my hands on a Mac to see how it goes.

I am working on an App like your and am also concerned with performance. I need to do some further testing on IE. But I think that the performance of Ext is its biggest limiting factor. I hope 3.0 improved performance and was said to improve on some memory leak issues although none of the announcements about 3.0 say much of anything about improvements in these errors, correct me if I am wrong (please).

Just by the way, window dragging is normal if you drag it not over the editing area...
My Screenshot should explain it better...

@Foggy: thanks for your feedback. I'm not sure why the windows seem to lag over the drop-zone. I'm not noticing much of this myself - so i'll have to find some other machines to test on.
Just as a general question. Are people finding the app to be unusably sluggish?
@brookd: personally i'm finding the performance to be very good on everything but IE. Strangely I've also noticed IE8 to be noticeably worse than IE7! This is rather depressing
