Hi the forum. I'm looking to understand the Ext way of handling SQL default values.

Say I have the following table structure:

Table 'foo'
RecordID INT UNIQUE NOT NULL AUTO INCREMENT,
RecordValue VARCHAR(200) NOT NULL
PRIMARY KEY RecordID

Pretend my table already has many records, and I wish to add a new record to it:
var r = new Record({
RecordID: ???,
RecordValue: 'some new value'
}

I could talk to the database prior to record construction to determine what the value of ??? should be (next auto-increment value), but this seems like a poor way of doing this, and would be more complicated for other automatic data types (like CURRENT_TIMESTAMP). What I want is the local copy to come into synchronization with the values stored in the server after the server has assigned its modified values.

Is there an Ext way of dealing with values that come into being only *after* the record's creation?
