Sencha, a global leader in enterprise-grade application development tools, is excited to announce the release of Ext JS 8.0. This major update brings powerful new features and enhancements across both Modern and Classic toolkits, focusing on accessibility, innovative UI components, and enterprise-grade performance. Ext JS 8.0 empowers development teams to build sophisticated, accessible applications faster while meeting modern web standards and delivering exceptional user experiences.
This release addresses the critical needs of modern enterprises – accessibility, performance, and rich functionality – while maintaining the robustness and reliability our customers depend on.
Let’s dive in.
New Features
Font Awesome 7 Integration
Ext JS 8.0 now ships with Font Awesome 7.x as the default icon set for both toolkits, providing access to the latest iconography.
Digital Signature Pad Component
A new responsive signature capture component enables smooth signature collection directly within applications. Built natively on Ext JS, it features Undo/Redo, configurable pen settings, color customization, and export options (JPG, PNG, SVG), integrating seamlessly with Grid, Form and Panel containers.
QR Code Reader & Generator
This versatile component allows developers to generate and read QR codes for multiple use cases, including payments, VCARD, calendar events, geolocation, Wi-Fi configurations, and more. It supports SVG, Canvas, and PNG rendering with customizable colors, sizes, and responsive design.
Lockable Grid Plugin for Modern Toolkit
The new Lockable Grid plugin brings full column locking functionality to the Modern toolkit with synchronized scrolling and complete feature compatibility including selection models, cell editing, and summaries.
Buffered Column Rendering
Enhanced grid performance through horizontal buffering dramatically improves rendering for datasets with 1000+ columns. This optimization works seamlessly with locking, grouping, filtering, editing, and accessibility features.
Dialog Boundary Control
Ext.Dialog now supports boundary-aware operations, allowing dialogs to maximize, minimize, and drag within parent container boundaries rather than the full viewport, providing better control over UI behavior.
ARIA Support and Tri-State Checkboxes
Full ARIA support for form fields ensures compatibility with major screen readers (JAWS, Narrator, TalkBack, VoiceOver). The Classic toolkit now includes tri-state checkboxes for TreePanel with automatic parent-child state synchronization.
And more supporting features are available as part of the V8 Release. Visit the official Release notes to learn more.
