Sencha GXT 4.2.0 Has Arrived!
The Sencha team is excited to announce the general release of version 4.2 of GXT, Sencha’s comprehensive Java framework for developing web applications with the GWT (formerly Google Web Toolkit) compiler. Developers can use GXT to write and compile Java apps into highly optimized cross-platform HTML5 code.

Support for Java LTS 17 & 21 and Google Web Toolkit (GWT) version 2.11.0 are among the top customer requests addressed in the GXT 4.2 release.

Support for Latest Java LTS & GWT
GWT 2.11.0 Support: Google Web Toolkit (GWT) is an open-source set of tools that allows front-end developers to create browser-based JavaScript applications using Java APIs and widgets.
With GXT 4.2, users can write frontend and backend code using Java LTS 17 & 21 and GWT 2.11.0. GWT 2.11.0 introduces significant enhancements in Java emulation and runtime fixes, offering better support for modern Java features. Developers can now write code using Java 11, 17 & 21, utilizing the latest syntax and Java SDK capabilities to simplify and optimize their code builds. This update streamlines development, making it easier to work with up-to-date Java features in GWT applications.
GWT 2.11.0 is the latest version of GWT and was released in January 2024. Check out more details in the GWT Project Release Notes.
How to Access GXT 4.2?
Current customers can download GXT 4.2 using the following two options:
- Get access to the zip version through the Sencha support portal
- Customers also have the option to download the updated 4.2 version from the Maven repository hosted on MyGet.
- Customers can request MyGet access by submitting a ticket on the Sencha support portal and our support team will promptly guide you through this quick process.
