Fall Update – From the Desk of Sencha’s General Manager

It’s been a few weeks since I last addressed the Sencha community. Our priorities and product roadmap are shaped by you—our dedicated users and customers—and we strive to provide valuable product enhancements that enable you to create amazing applications. I wanted to take this opportunity to touch base and update the community on some exciting developments.

Increased Commitment to Ext JS

Commitment to Ext JS has never been higher and internally we’re investing to make it even better. Nothing gets me more excited than jumping on customer calls and learning about how they use Ext JS and how much more productive their teams are because of it. With that said, our growth outlook on the product is high and we’re excited about the upcoming releases this quarter and next year.

Ext JS 7.1 and 7.2 will focus on improvements in component usability. We will continue to expand improvements across our API-docs, guides, and examples—providing an overall improved reference experience. These releases are intended to be maintenance and quality-focused, incorporating a number of customer requests.

We plan to provide 7.1 and 7.2 updates for ExtAngular, ExtReact, and ExtWebComponent, so expect to see even more improvements in the trees, grids, forms, and layouts. With every release, we continuously strive to make our components more valuable by improving on usability as well as ease of debugging and deployment.

NEW! Enterprise Select Program

We created the Enterprise Select program for strategic customers to address several common requests:

  1. Standardize JS components with more professionally maintained options for developers that address security vulnerabilities & license restrictions
  2. Enable adoption of framework and components to make it easier for new developers and teams to reduce incremental license purchasing constraints
  3. Provide robust training and onboarding program for new developers

We are piloting the program this quarter and are confident that this will provide added value and cost savings to customers. If you have over 20 licenses and are interested in learning more, please contact us or your sales representative for additional information. 

Stack Overflow

Effective Jan 1, 2020, the forum on sencha.com will transition to the community hosted forum on Stack Overflow and will be read-only going forward. 

Stack Overflow is the preferred digital venue for millions of software professionals wanting to find or provide answers to product questions. With a high response rate, the new collaborative approach will considerably enrich the ecosystem, improve the quality and volume of content available, while assisting our users faster as they build engaging applications.

We want to make it easier for users to get answers quickly and effectively using a platform they use and trust. Read more about our partnership here.

Virtual SenchaCon 2020 – coming soon!

Planning is in the early stages for an online-hosted SenchaCon! This will be an insightful full-day event with multiple tracks and engaging topics. We’re extremely excited about this event and I hope everyone can block off some time to join the live presentations as their schedule and interests permit.
