Innovations in Web App Lifecycle Management

I’m excited to announce the general availability of the Sencha Web Application Lifecycle Management Platform with innovations in Ext JS 6 and Sencha Web Application Manager 6, formerly known as Sencha Space. Now organizations can use a single JavaScript framework to design and develop cross-platform applications and deploy them in a matter of minutes with Sencha Web Application Manager — making native packagers and the app store submission process a thing of the past.

For those of you who attended SenchaCon, you were able to see some of the amazing capabilities of the platform in action, such as Fashion, the new theming technology that lets you update the look of your application in the blink of an eye as well as the over-the-air deployment capabilities of Web Application Manager, which reduces deployment times from weeks to mere minutes.

More than 4,000 people downloaded the Ext JS 6 Beta and were able to try building a universal application and use the new JetBrains plugin. Thank you to those who took the time to complete our Beta survey. More than 40% of you reported that you plan to build a universal application with the newly merged framework (Sencha Ext JS and Sencha Touch). And more than 60% reported that Fashion will be very or extremely useful.

The following are some of the highlights of the new capabilities available to help you design, develop, deploy, and manage business-critical cross-platform web applications.

Ext JS 6

Design and Development Enhancements

  • Single JavaScript framework to build cross-platform applications — supporting both modern and legacy browsers
  • Near real-time theme generation capability with Fashion, which eliminates the dependency on Ruby and Compass
  • Enhanced Accessibility with improved keyboard navigation for grid components, and default screen reader support
  • Better starting point for developers with App Templates, which are out-of-the-box starter apps that offer best practices for code and architecture
  • Data analytics capabilities with Sencha PivotGrid
  • Deeper integration into the development workflow with JetBrains IDE plugin

Early Access Release — Sencha Inspector: Debugging & Theming Tool

With this release, we are also providing early access to Sencha Inspector, which is a debugging tool that provides direct access to components, classes, objects, and more for apps built using Sencha frameworks. It lets you analyze your application code for issues, such as overnesting of components, and helps improve your application performance. It even lets you theme your applications by inspecting and modifying the SASS in near real-time. Sencha Inspector will be a component of Ext JS Pro and Premium. [Update: Inspector will be a component of Ext JS Premium.]
