Mission: Open Architect has officially begun! We are releasing an Open Source version of Sencha Architect and need your help bringing it to life—don’t miss your chance to take part in this industry-changing hackathon!

With this mission we strive to fuel open source and enterprise innovation across various industry verticals by designing an Open Source WYSIWYG Editor that allows editing for application views.

What is the Goal of this Hackathon?

The Open Source version of Sencha Architect will ultimately allow web application developers to resize components, change styles, theme, and more—become a catalyst for innovation in the open source community, as you pioneer the design for our upcoming open source JavaScript WYSIWYG editor.

How Are Submissions Being Graded?

Devs that take up this mission will have their JavaScript skills put to the test as they balance a number of criteria in their efforts to build the ultimate Open Source WYSIWYG Editor:

  • WYSIWYG Functionality
    • Does it work?
  • Component Editing
    • Does it work?
  • Ext JS Usage
    • Has Ext JS been used, and have the editing properties of the Ext JS grid been incorporated?
  • Code & Aesthetic Design
    • Does it look great? How was the code functionally designed?

How Can I Get a Leg Up in the Competition?

Don’t forget to take a look at the doxi JSON, Ext JS components list when building a component pallet for your editor!

Doing so will surely help you catch our judges attention when it comes to the “Functional Goals Component Pallet Goals” section.

Other than that, we’ve left plenty of hints for how to win the judges over in the Requirements section of our hackathon homepage hosted on DevPost.com.

How Can I Participate?

Although Mission: Open Architect began on June 15th, there is still plenty of time to take part!

The event ends on July 15th, giving developers three weeks from the time of this blog’s posting to finalize their submissions.

Don’t miss out on this chance to leave your mark on the world of JavaScript, and bring home the $5,000 grand prize—we can’t wait to see what you submit!
