We are past the midpoint of 2023 and we are very proud of what we have accomplished to start the year. We view this moment as not only a celebration of our achievements but also a testament to the dedication that drives our team at Sencha. We’re excited about the future and committed to investing in our product and community for the long run.
We also have some upcoming releases that we are excited to introduce but before we get into those details, let’s recap what we’ve been working on thus far in 2023 and preview what you can expect from Sencha in the second half of the year.
Most Recent Release Notes: Ext JS 7.7
The latest version of Ext JS (7.7) was released on June 22, 2023, and includes several quality enhancements, usability improvements, and fixes for customer-reported issues on Grid, Chart, Tree Panel, Timefield, ComboBox, Store, and others.
You can learn more about upgrading to the latest version of Ext JS by contacting your Account Manager or staying up to date with the latest on what we have released and what is coming on our roadmap by joining our Discord server.
Rapid Ext JS Release: Coming Soon
Sencha is gearing up to introduce Rapid Ext JS – a new Rapid Ext JS—Visual Studio Code extension for Sencha Architect to aid in the rapid development of Ext JS apps by minimizing hand-coding efforts with a low-code editor. This lightweight extension includes 140+ fully supported components that will enable you to quickly drag and drop components, edit configs with real-time preview, and minimize hand-coding efforts.
A glimpse of Rapid Ext JS!
Rapid Ext JS is built with extensibility in mind. From the UI to the editing experience, almost every part of VS Code is customized and enhanced through the extension. Since many core features of VS Code are built as extensions and use the same extension API, building multiple feature-rich, lightweight VS Code extensions is going to reduce the development efforts.
With Visual Studio Code running on your desktop and available for Windows, macOS, and Linux, Rapid Ext JS supports many features for front-end development. In addition to these core features, this extension provides the ability to create boilerplate code, a customized editor, and live previews of Ext views to facilitate Ext JS development.
Ext JS “Standard License” End of Support
After careful consideration, we have decided to sunset the legacy Ext JS Standard License. The Ext JS Standard License has not been available for purchase since July of 2018, and we plan to discontinue it from 09/01/2023 onwards. This change is aimed at allowing us to maximize our investment in both the Pro and Enterprise versions.
Users with a Standard license will be transitioned to the Pro version of Ext JS upon renewal. The Pro version offers enhanced features and benefits, including IDE Plugins, Architect, and Themer. For larger customers, we highly encourage upgrading to our Enterprise edition, which more comprehensively addresses your development needs.
Our dedicated support and account managers will collaborate with you to ensure a seamless transition. We believe that this change will provide additional value to your teams, enabling the creation of even more powerful Ext JS applications.
Looking further into Calendar Year 2023 and Beyond
As we continue this journey, we want you to know that your success remains at the heart of our efforts. Your needs and preferences are essential, and we will continue to work closely with you to ensure our product meets and exceeds your expectations.
Thank you once again for being part of our vibrant Sencha community. We are eager to bring you an exciting year ahead filled with innovation, collaboration, and success. Stay tuned for more updates, and as always, we’re here to listen and support you every step of the way.
