Managed Platform Delivers New Offline Capability that Simplifies Application Updates and Protects Sensitive Data
REDWOOD CITY, Calif., February 12, 2015 — Sencha, a leading provider of HTML5 desktop and mobile web application development technology, today announced the release of Sencha Space 1.3, an upgrade to its breakthrough platform for securely deploying, managing and analyzing business applications. Space 1.3 builds upon the product’s innovative cross-platform capabilities to deliver a complete web application management solution that simplifies the many application lifecycle requirements of IT administrators and end users.
Organizations are increasingly tasked with meeting the IT needs of a diversified and extended workforce, in which many employees work from home, regionally in the field or all over the world. These employees may not have immediate or guaranteed access to a network connection, yet are dependent on their organizations’ applications to perform their job. Certain industries, such as the healthcare and energy sector, require employees to continuously handle mission-critical and sensitive real-time data at field locations. This data must be readily and securely available to everyone else in the company with the right level of user authorization.
“In today’s high speed and diverse world, there is no single application or device that works for every person in an organization—IT environments and end users are too varied and complex,” said Art Landro, CEO of Sencha. “Last year, Sencha Space 1.2 transformed the way enterprises could manage the lifecycle of their applications across multiple devices and operating systems. With Space 1.3, we are extending those capabilities to address crucial usage differences in the modern workforce, empowering organizations to deliver the ideal user experience no matter where employees are located or what applications they are using.”
Sencha Space 1.3 introduces two new features:
- A new offline functionality that empowers businesses to flexibly support diverse types of application usage. For IT teams, the offline feature enables full control over app versioning, allowing for multiple and different versions of the same application based on the user’s profile. Updates are also simplified, as Sencha Space provides HTML5 application development technology, with which IT can push application updates and edits directly to all platforms and devices, a far superior approach compared to native applications that require users to manually update application software through an app store. For end users, the new feature enables regular app usage and data storage while in an offline mode, it is then easily synced up the next time the user is connected.
- A new white-label client application so that organizations can tailor a common look and feel across all platforms and devices. The combination of an ideal user experience and customized interface is a huge step towards delivering enterprise applications that provide as good, or better, experience and capabilities as consumer apps.
